Bali Gapura Marina

In an historic milestone in the development of Indonesia’s first international full-service marina, the official name is today unveiled as Bali Gapura Marina by PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo).

Bali Gapura MarinaThe new marina in Bali, which will offer 180 berths including superyacht capacity by Q3 2026, is currently under construction, following its ground breaking on 22 May 2025.

Paving the way for the emergence of other world-class marinas in Indonesia, Bali Gapura Marina represents a breakthrough in the advancement of superyacht and yachting tourism in the country.

Indonesia possesses remarkable potential for the growth of marina tourism development, with the presence of the upcoming Bali Gapura Marina hailed as a pioneering force for the country’s maritime tourism sector.

“Through strong collaboration between government and the private sector, Bali Gapura Marina is set to become Indonesia’s first international full-service marina,” said Arif Suhartono, President Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia

“To further strengthen Indonesia’s maritime infrastructure while unlocking the vast potential of our tourism industry, Pelindo remains open to explore and develop other world-class marinas, within Indonesia archipelago. This reflects our long-term vision to elevate Indonesia’s standing as a premier maritime and tourism hub in the region.”

A Gateway with Meaning
The name Bali Gapura Marina unites cultural heritage with strategic ambition, positioning Indonesia on the map of world marina destinations. The word Gapura, meaning “gateway” in Balinese, captures the spirit of the marina as both a physical entry point and a cultural passage.

“The name reflects how every yacht and boat is welcomed at Bali Gapura Marina, crossing from water to land as part of a cultural journey. It also reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to placing maritime journeys at the core of National Strategic Projects, uniting cultural heritage with forward-looking economic priorities,” said Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia.

A New Era for Indonesia

Bali Gapura MarinaThe latest progress in the ongoing construction of Bali Gapura Marina is now visible with Dock B. Eleven concrete pontoons with a capacity of 48 berths at Dock B are in position, making it the smallest of the five planned docks. In parallel, pontoons for Docks A and C remain in production, while Dock D is being developed as a floating breakwater.

The pilot commercial opening of Dock B is scheduled for the first week of December 2025, when boats will be able to berth and access essential facilities such as water, electricity, and provisioning services.

A dedicated Welcome Station will also be available to handle QICP (Quarantine, Immigration, Customs, and Port) formalities, ensuring a seamless arrival experience for yacht owners and guests.

Currently in its final stage of preparation, Dock B is being equipped with state-of-the-art pedestal electricity and water systems from Plus Marine, the first installation of its kind in Indonesia. This integrated dockside technology ensures safe, efficient, and transparent access to utilities for yacht owners and operators.

“Dock B’s completion is more than an operational milestone. It represents a new era for Indonesia,” said Ulf Backlund, President Director of Marina Development Indonesia. “The pilot opening paves the way for the next phases: complete technical service facilities by mid-2026, expansion to 180 berths including superyacht capacity by Q3 2026, and the development of a waterfront commercial and lifestyle hub by 2028.”
