As CEO of Superyacht Australia, I’m proud to introduce this feature: a deep dive into the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands as the ultimate superyacht destination.Across my time in this industry, I have watched Asia Pacific evolve from a peripheral curiosity into a region that serious owners and charter guests now consider essential. The Mediterranean and Caribbean remain iconic, but they are also crowded, familiar and increasingly predictable. Asia Pacific offers something different: scale, remoteness and a sense of genuine discovery that is becoming harder to find anywhere else in the world. For any owner or broker building a global cruising calendar, this region has shifted from optional to must-do.At the centre of that shift sits the Great Barrier Reef, highlighted by the Whitsunday Islands. They form one of the most compelling cruising grounds on the planet – a UNESCO World Heritage marine system stretching over 2,300 kilometres, with the Whitsundays at the centre framed by 74 islands of white silica sand, coral cays and protected turquoise waters.
