Responsible yachting with purpose. ONBOARD talks to Vladimir Zinchenko from GX Superyachts – Redefining luxury through responsible innovation
GX Superyachts is charting a bold new course in yacht design -fusing cutting-edge hybrid propulsion, elegant aesthetics, and a commitment to low-impact cruising. Officially launched at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, the brand is the latest innovation from the team behind Greenline Yachts, who have delivered over 1,000 hybrid-powered vessels worldwide.
With a range spanning 24 to 56 metres, GX Superyachts brings Greenline’s proven technology and values into the superyacht category. The flagship GX42 – a 42-metre aluminum yacht – is already under construction and scheduled for delivery in summer 2026.
“GX is the natural evolution of everything we’ve achieved with Greenline,” says Vladimir Zinchenko, Founder and CEO of GX Superyachts. “It’s not just about building larger yachts. It’s about creating a new class of vessels that combine comfort, performance and genuine environmental responsibility.”
RESPONSIBLE YACHTING SCALED UP
GX Superyachts are built around a highly efficient serial hybrid propulsion system developed over the past 15 years. This system allows for silent, emissions-free cruising at 6 knots for up to 100 nautical miles in electric mode. When extended range is needed, diesel propulsion takes over – enabling transatlantic passages and over 11,500 nautical miles of range at low speed.
The hybrid system is supported by a large lithium battery bank and extensive solar arrays, which are integrated into the structure of the yacht. At anchor, the vessel can run full hotel systems – including air conditioning – for up to 48 hours without using a generator.
“Our mission is simple: to reduce emissions and improve life on board,” says Zinchenko. “We want owners to enjoy silence, comfort and independence -without sacrificing range or design.”
Compared to conventional superyachts, GX models are expected to reduce CO. emissions by up to 60%, setting a new benchmark for sustainable cruising at this scale.
THE GX42: A FLAGSHIP WITH PURPOSE
The first model under construction, the GX42, will embody all of GX’s principles in a striking 42-metre aluminum platform. Construction began with a keel-laying ceremony in June 2024, and progress at mid-2025 is on track. The hull and superstructure are fully joined, insulation and piping are 80% complete, and the advanced hybrid propulsion system has passed its factory tests.
Interior outfitting is also underway, with 50% of the bespoke furniture already fabricated in line with the serene, family-oriented design direction developed by Marco Casali.
“It’s inspiring to see the GX42 take shape so fluidly,” says Zinchenko.“This isn’t just about engineering -it’s about delivering on a lifestyle and a set of values that define the future of yachting.”
PARTNERSHIP WITH SES YACHTS
To realise the build of the first GX42, GX Superyachts partnered with SES Yachts, an experienced aluminum yachtbuilder based in Istanbul. “Greenline’s facilities in Slovenia are optimised for composite yachts up to 24 metres,” Zinchenko explains. “For GX, we needed a partner who could deliver complex custom yachts in aluminum, and SES Yachts proved the ideal fit.”
DESIGN: COHESION AND ELEGANCE
Marco Casali of Too Design, a longtime Greenline collaborator, has created both the exterior and interior designs of the GX Superyachts range. His lines are contemporary but timeless – flowing surfaces, integrated glass, and clean geometry mark out the new aesthetic. Casali offers two exterior styles for each GX model: the Coupé and the Raised Pilot House (RPH).
The Coupé version is characterised by a long, arched roof structure with solar panels that slide apart to reveal a concealed sundeck complete with jacuzzi and bar.
The RPH variant includes a more prominent flybridge with panoramic views and 353 GT of volume – generous for a 42-metre vessel. Both layouts incorporate a large beach club with fold-down wings and a hydraulic swim platform.
“Our vision was to bring clarity, spac, and calm to every corner of the yacht,” says Zinchenko. “Marco has translated our brief beautifully – these yachts look purposeful and feel peaceful.”
Interior design continues that theme. Natural materials, gentle curves and organic tones dominate. The GX42 #1 features a main-deck owner’s suite and a full-beam VIP stateroom, with décor that includes Antonio Lupi bathrooms, Dornbracht fittings, Foglizzo leathers, Cadorin flooring, and furnishings by Poltrona Frau and Rugiano.
“The interiors are a key part of the yacht’s responsible luxury story,” adds Zinchenko. “They’re built for families, for longer stays, and for complete, peaceful enjoyment whether at anchor at cruising the world’s ocean.”
ENGINEERING WITH A GREEN EDGE
Francesco Rogantin of NAMES studio has been responsible for the naval architecture of the GX range. His focus was on developing a hyper-efficient displacement hull, optimised for long-range cruising in both electric and diesel modes.
“It was essential for us to achieve maximum performance with minimal resistance,” says Zinchenko. “That means low fuel consumption, smooth handling and excellent seakeeping abilities – all without sacrificing onboard comfort.”
Rogantin’s design uses CFD modelling and modern appendage tuning to deliver stability and speed flexibility, helping the GX42 reach its class-leading range and performance targets.
EXPERIENCED OVERSIGHT AND VISION
GX Superyachts has also appointed Andrea Armas as consultant to the board. A naval architect and marine engineer with nearly three decades of experience as an owner’s representative at top-tier yards, Armas ensures that GX’s transition into the superyacht sector is as rigorous as its philosophy.
“Andrea brings both deep technical understanding and a strong ethical compass,” says Zinchenko. “He’s helping us navigate not just the regulations, but the expectations of owners who want a yacht that reflects their values.”
WHAT’S NEXT
As outfitting of the GX42 continues at SES Yachts, focus is shifting toward electrical installation, furniture integration and final hybrid system delivery. Sea trials are scheduled for early 2026, followed by handover in the summer.
“We’re not following trends – we’re setting a new standard,” concludes Zinchenko. “GX is where timeless design meets modern ethics. It’s where owners find peace of mind, knowing that their yacht is beautiful, efficient, and built with respect for the sea.”
