360° REFIT PROJECTS
NCA Refit with its exceptional infrastructure and services for superyachts, continues its evolution. The new covered dry dock of 200 metres in length represents one of the many completed recent milestones
The acquisition of Perini Navi meant expanding the NCA range of services in Viareggio, La Spezia and Turkey with 2 travel lifts of 260t and 820t in La Spezia, a syncro-lift of 1,000t in Viareggio which complement the range of services already offered at Marina di Carrara with drydock and floating docks facilities.
During this expansion and extension of facilities, the quantity of projects carried out have continued to increase. Of particular note is a 46 metre yacht which arrived at the shipyard following a simple inspection carried out in Croatia more than 12 months ago.
From the first moment the owners and captain were captivated by the innovative and creative spirit of the NCA refit staff. The project management team, were in tune with the customer’s needs, hit the target and started what was only the beginning of a wonderful adventure.
The initial request concerned the extension of the stern. The project would invlove transforming the existing garage and technical area into a luxurious and spacious beach club for the exclusive use of the owners and guests.
Before getting to the operational part, the technical department created and proposed various concepts, collaborating closely with the owner and giving a new life to this splendid yacht.
The stern of the yacht has been completely redesigned, accommodating a transom door that can actually be open to sit flush with the water level to create the new open plan Beach Club area that offers the guests a unique and luxurious connection to the sea.
The new internal cladding of the beach area, completed in teak seamlessly connects to the main deck and this new area also includes a sea view gym area complete with state of the art fitness equipment enhancing anyones exercise routine and giving the fitness enthusiast instant access to the sea to cool down after the workout.
Extending a yacht does not only mean increasing the space but reviewing its shape, its design and really giving it a new life, whilst maintaining the original concept and engineering.
Special attention has also naturally been given to the choice of outdoor furniture to complement the entire beach club area to create a serene and very personal space.
The internal Italian Sea Group decor department was given the challenge to make the most of the newly created space.
Although they were given a blank canvas, the team were still conscious of the overall yacht’s design.
However, with typical Italian craftsmanship, flair and innovative design, the end result is a true masterpiece of Italian lifestyle which sits effortlessly within this prized superyacht.
The yacht in question was built in 2011, arriving at NCA facilities after 10 years of navigation with the hull and superstructure requiring a total re-paint.
Awlcraft and Awlgrip were chosen for a non-polishable hull and a polishable superstructure. In close consultation with the owner, an optic white colour called ‘Mattern Horn White’ was chosen to accentuate the yacht’s elegant lines. The end results were simply stunning and without doubt, she will be turning heads when cruising the world’s oceans.
Although the yacht is now ready to leave and start her busy charter season, we can reveal that the project is actually only halfway through.
With the completion of this first stage, the NCA team and owner are now discussing and planning the refit of the interior areas. So watch this space for the next update on this refit project.
The unique characteristics of the infrastructure and personnel within NCA Refit makes this yard one of the most important facilities within the Mediterranean. The level of expertise, professionalism and innovation is second to none making NCA Refit an obvious choice for your next refit. Their mission is simple, to continue providing efficiency and quality.
