St. Kitts & Nevis International Ship Registry (SKANReg) commenced operation in 2005. It has a network of over forty Maritime Registrars, for local contact with a client and who can complete ship and mortgage registrations thus enabling an owner/manager to deal with such matters in their own time zone, own language and with minimum hassle, 24/7.

All these benefits and a pragmatic approach to certification where technical issues that are unique to yachts are involved means SKANReg has built a reputation for a fast, accurate, efficient service, including outside of office hours.

With fixed fees for registration, “no hidden extras”, clients can be assured their budget will not be subject to unforeseen charges with 1, 2 and 4 yearly payment options for flag taxes.

Yacht owners will benefit from E-certificates which enable SKANReg to build a reputation for a fast, accurate, efficient service, including outside of office hours and removes the requirement for original certificates to be delivered to the yacht. If owners prefer physical pieces of paper, the owner may print these onboard to further save costs.

Compliance is key for large yachts registered with SKANREG and those with a waterline length of 24m or more can be certified under the UK/MCA large yacht code 3 (as amended). This code is a comprehensively well known and highly respected for its safety standards. Although the UK/MCA LY3 code is the preferred regulation, SKANReg can consider alternative codes.

Yacht owners registered under SKAN can take advantage of a “state of the art” yacht port within St Kitts, Christophe Harbour. The Marina at Christophe Harbour offers secure alongside mooring, 24/7 dockage access, a deepwater harbour with wide turning basin, in-slip fuelling, and ample power for superyachts up to 250 ft. The marina provides onsite customs clearance and immigration services—a warm welcome to owners, captains and crew visiting or homeporting at Christophe Harbour.

There are many benefits to be gained by registering your vessels with St. Kitts & Nevis, not least the rapid turnaround of enquiries and applications from our worldwide network of
maritime registrars. But equally important is the SKANREG ethos, which all members of our team are committed to upholding.
