LiquidView windows

Transform and inspire

Torsten Steinbrecher takes a closer look at LiquidView’s digital windows – combining beautiful content, expert engineering, and stunning architectural details

Torsten Steinbrecher Qualtron GmbHWhen I met my good friend Paul Sabbah of Leon Speakers in Barcelona, I was intrigued when he mentioned LiquidView windows. Leon Speakers is the OEM manufacturer for LiquidView. This groundbreaking digital platform creates virtual windows in those spaces on yachts that are devoid of beautiful views. Eager to learn more I jumped on a call with Mitch Braff, CEO of LiquidView, who explains the remarkable benefits of this new technology. For many boat owners, spending time on the water is a cherished lifestyle. However, below-deck spaces often pose a challenge due to the absence of windows, making it easy to lose track of time without natural light. LiquidView’s digital windows were created as a solution to address this very issue. The inspiration came from CEO and Founder Mitch Braff’s experience with homes he lived in and some of his clients for a video art business, despite their stunning interiors, lacked captivating outdoor views or, in some cases, had no views at all. This realization led Braff to a pivotal question: what if there were a way to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside, even where exterior windows are not possible?

Driven by this vision, Braff set out to develop a solution that would provide beautiful and immersive views to any space, whether it be a yacht cabin, an office, or a hospital room. The result is LiquidView’s revolutionary digital windows, a game-changing innovation that offers 24-hour views shot in 8K resolution, using the same high-end camera system used by James Cameron in the Avatar films. This remarkable technology is further enhanced by LiquidView’s patented “time sync” feature, which mirrors the actual sunrise and sunset of your selected location. For instance, in the summer, 5pm displays as a few hours before sunset, while in the winter, your LiquidView window shows a nighttime scene. This ensures that when you, your family, or guests wake up below deck, the view displayed mirrors the actual time of day.

LiquidView’s digital windows will have a feature called “Unexpected Events,” which introduces a touch of spontaneity to your viewing experience. These photo-realistic moments appear at random throughout the day, adding a surprising twist that mirrors the unpredictability of a real window view. Imagine, for instance, catching a glimpse of a dragon soaring over New York City. You can easily toggle this feature on or off with the tap of a button.

The realism of these digital windows is so convincing that Stanford University is currently studying their neurobiological and emotional health benefits. Early results suggest that these digital views can “trick the brain” into perceiving the scenes as real, leading to reduced heart rates, lower blood pressure, and increased positive brainwave activity. “It’s allowing the brain to be convinced that the scene they are viewing is real,” says Dr. Maira Karan, one of the study’s lead authors.

LiquidView windows - QUALTRONEach window is designed to seamlessly integrate into your yacht’s interior, with options for both In-Wall and OnWall installations. The InWall option is designed like most traditional windows, recessed into the wall, requiring framing with a minimum wall depth of 15cm – 20cm (6”- 8”). This trim-ready option allows you to match existing trim in your space for a fully integrated appearance. Alternatively, the On-Wall option offers a simpler installation, mounting directly onto an existing wall with a sleek trim option, without the need for extensive modifications, and sits 10cm (4”) proud from the wall.

The 24-hour views come from a growing content library curated by the California based company, featuring locations like Hawaii, Central Park, San Francisco, and Sausalito. The displays are designed to be on 24/7, and users even add blinds and shades to create an even more realistic experience.

LiquidView’s digital windows are already making waves in high-end homes from New York to Florida, a private club in San Francisco, offices, and even major hospitals. They provide thousands of people with the benefits of a window view, even in spaces where exterior windows are not an option.

Incorporating LiquidView digital windows into your yacht offers a blend of cutting- edge technology, aesthetic appeal, and scientifically backed health benefits. Whether you’re looking to enhance the ambiance of your cabin or improve your overall well-being, these digital windows are a game-changing addition to any below-deck space.
