Emily Grew looks at the importance of professional and proactive claims handling by the dedicated and knowledgeable RSA in-house team

In May 2023 we announced that we would expand our market-leading marine offering and launch a new superyacht practice. The practice provides comprehensive cover for owners of superyachts, doesn’t place any geographical restrictions in terms of navigating and is aimed at vessels 30 metres or more in length that are professionally skippered and crewed.
Using our dedicated risk consulting capabilities, we survey every yacht we insure. By evaluating each yacht, we offer owners, management companies and crew an accurate price to cover their vessel, but also bespoke advice on how to reduce, manage and minimise their risk profile.
We understand yachts are often registered or located all over the globe. Wherever your yacht is registered or located, we can provide cover, utilising the RSA global network, an invaluable asset for our multinational clients. It makes it possible for us to insure complex risks across multiple territories – keeping our clients covered, wherever they are. Our global network is one of the largest of its kind and enables us to write business in 150 territories globally.
Our practice is led by an industry expert, Emily Grew. Emily is a well-respected and experienced yacht underwriter, who has more than 15 years’ experience as both an insurer and insurance broker, the majority of this as a yacht specialist. She has worked for AIG, Miller Insurance Services, JLT Specialty and CRS Yachts. She moved to RSA in May 2023 from Chubb, where she was responsible for establishing and building out their London yacht practice.

We work closely with brokers and all parties involved to move claims to resolution as quickly as possible. Our marine claims adjusters work with a global network of claims agents and surveyors, so we can respond quickly, no matter which corner of the planet the claim occurs.
