The Dive Experience
Dedicated to building the world’s finest submersibles, Triton are equally determined in delivering the best experience, for passengers and operators alike
When most people picture a submarine, they imagine hulking grey vessels designed for stealth. Triton Submarines has turned that idea on its head. Since its founding in Florida in 2007, the company has pioneered a new era of personal and scientific submersibles, bringing the mysteries of the deep within reach of superyacht owners, filmmakers and explorers alike.
And the record books tell the story. Triton submersibles have played leading roles in the Five Deeps Expedition, the first successful dives to the deepest points of all five oceans, and in 2019 set the world record for the deepest crewed dive ever achieved, descending 10,928 metres into the Mariana Trench. They’ve enabled the first dives to the Titanic in more than a decade, and today are trusted by scientists, documentary filmmakers, and visionary yacht owners who want more than just a view of the ocean from the deck. Triton doesn’t just build submarines. It builds access – to places few humans will ever see.
INTEGRATING SUBMARINES INTO SUPERYACHTS
For owners considering a submersible, timing is everything. Unlike tenders, submarine integration requires more forethought at the very earliest stages of the yacht’s design.
A submersible brings with it specific demands: garage space with the right dimensions, overhead clearance, sufficient crane capacity, launch and recovery systems, and safe boarding arrangements.
These elements affect both naval architecture and guest flow. Get them wrong, and integration becomes an expensive challenge. Get them right from the outset, and the result is seamless, an asset that feels like a natural extension of the yacht’s lifestyle programme.
That’s why Triton works directly with yacht designers, shipyards and owner representatives from the concept stage. The benefit is not just technical compatibility but also operational elegance: the launch and recovery systems work smoothly, guests step aboard easily, and the entire process feels intuitive rather than engineered.
A PORTFOLIO FOR EVERY ADVENTURE
Triton’s model range reflects its broad mission: from compact, lightweight subs ideal for smaller yachts to advanced deep- diving vessels that can reach full ocean depth.
The Triton 1650/3 LP: seating for two guests plus a pilot, capable of reaching 500 metres, perfect for superyacht integration, weighing just 4,000 kg, guests can enjoy vibrant reef exploration or discover historic wrecks.
The Triton 3300/6 series: for those that wish to dive deeper still, capable of reaching depths of 1000 metres, weighing in at 11,000 kg.
The Triton 660/9 AVA: specifically designed with flexible seating arrangements from seven to nine passengers, and a depth capability of 200m, weighing 11,000 kg.
Each sub is built to order, with opportunities for owners to tailor features and finishes to match their yacht’s identity. The constant across the range is an emphasis on guest comfort and extraordinary visibility, achieved through Triton’s industry-leading use of optically perfect acrylic spheres.
PRECISION ENGINEERING AND CONTINUOUS OVERSIGHT
From the very start, the companies design philosophy is – simplicity of operation, ease of maintenance, reliability and safety – these are the cornerstones of the Triton submersibles. Building a submersible is one of the most technically demanding projects in the marine industry. At every stage from pressure hull fabrication to life-support installation, Triton operates under the constant oversight of Classification Societies such as DNV and ABS, as well as the relevant Flag State surveyors.
This continuous certification process ensures that every element of the vessel complies with the highest international safety standards. By the time a Triton is completed, it isn’t just signed off at the end of the build process, it has been scrutinised, tested, and approved every step of the way. That diligence gives owners and guests the ultimate assurance: safety and reliability beneath the waves.
FROM ACCEPTANCE TRIALS TO PILOT TRAINING
Once construction is complete, every Triton undergoes rigorous acceptance trials at sea. These tests are designed not only to validate safety and performance but also to demonstrate handling, manoeuvrability, and systems operation under real-world conditions. Owners and their teams are often invited to witness, and sometimes take part in these trials, an experience that brings to life the extraordinary capabilities of the submersible.
Delivery is then followed by one of Triton’s most important services: pilot training. A submersible is only as good as the people who operate it, and Triton’s training programme is regarded as one of the most comprehensive in the industry. Pilots learn everything from theory and emergency protocols to hands-on piloting, buoyancy management, and guest handling. The goal is always the same: to ensure safe, confident and memorable experiences for those on board and beneath the waves.
And Triton’s commitment doesn’t stop there. With a global support network, the company offers ongoing maintenance, spares and technical assistance, whether that’s sending a technician to the Maldives or shipping parts to Monaco. Owners aren’t just buying a submersible; they’re joining a support ecosystem designed for worldwide operations.
DELIVERING EXPERIENCES
Ultimately, what sets Triton apart is its vision. The company isn’t in the business of selling hardware alone. It’s in the business of crafting experiences that are genuinely transformative.
Picture it: you and your guests descend in a crystal-clear sphere, watching the sunlit surface fade to blue, then into darkness. A coral wall rises beside you, alive with colour and movement. Or you touch down on a seabed where no human has ever been. These are moments that stay forever… moments that turn curiosity into wonder.
