Baglietto Italian heritage

The 170-year-old Italian shipbuilder Baglietto is still delivering award winning designs. These queens of the sea have a unique and contemporary design and follow a tailored approach. AKULA is a prime example that combines tradition and innovation with excellence in materials and high levels of customisation

Baglietto AKULAAt 170ft, 52m AKULA elegantly represents the evolution of innovative design and construction by Italian shipbuilder Baglietto. Founded in 1854 by Pietro Baglietto, this now historic shipyard began by building small fishing boats. In July of 2024, Baglietto launched 52m AKULA, the third of the T-52 line and the winner of “Yacht of the Year” in its class at the 2024 Superyacht Awards.

AKULA boasts a stunning exterior design created by Francesco Paczkowski with sleek, modern lines and expansive outdoor spaces. The yacht’s commanding presence is accentuated by a dark grey hull and superstructure, cruising with elegance and authority. Her luxurious interiors, designed by Enrico Gobbi Team For Design, provide a retreat for 12 guests. Designed for leisure and entertainment, AKULA offers an array of amenities to enhance your time on board.

OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING SPACES ABOUND
The popularity of beach clubs is undeniable, however, many past designs have come with their share of tradeoffs. Some take considerable time to set up or creating additional operational challenges. Paszowski took a different approach with the Baglietto T-52. AKULA features a three-level beach club combining a fold- down stern deck, a mid-level lounging area with large sunbeds and a large main deck aft outdoor living room complete with a flush deck pool. This design allows guests to enjoy all three areas together without any setup time. Add on the custom in-water platform and pool (with plenty of water toys) and you might easily find yourself spending an entire day enjoying this area alone.

AKULA AKULA boasts a spacious 79’ (24m) sun deck, the largest of any 52m yacht on the market. A custom, glass waterfall-edge Jacuzzi with bar seating surround is sure to be a focal point. The emphasis is on bringing people together while giving them multiple ways to enjoy each space. Additionally the sun deck features a Gobbi designed elegant sweeping bar, large alfresco dining table for 12, barbecue and shaded lounge areas. Throughout the yacht, Baglietto has done away with handrails that obstruct your view and used a glass panel design that allows an open and immersive feeling.

The bow area of many yachts often feel like forgotten spaces. AKULA offers a unique guest entertainment area on the bow featuring a plethora of sun pads and additional seating. A retractable staircase from the sun deck creates easy access between these two areas, uniquely bringing them together.

The sky lounge, located on the bridge deck, allows breathtaking panoramic views and can be transformed into an open-air dining experience with sliding doors that open on all three sides. The bridge deck aft provides an outdoor living room and bar. The toughest decision a guest may have to make each day is which area to enjoy next or where to enjoy a hot fresh pizza – after all, how could you have an Italian boat and not have an onboard pizza oven?

DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS
When it came to the interior, the experienced US owner went straight to Enrico Gobbi Team For Design. From the moment you enter the salon doors on AKULA you feel an inviting warmth and elegance. A rich blend of creams, browns, fine Italian furnishings and custom pieces deliver layers of tones and textures. You feel like you’ve walked into the pages of a magazine, but now it’s your home. The more you look, the more you will appreciate the carefully curated and crafted details throughout AKULA. The ceilings on the main deck are raised an additional 1-1/2” and feature large floor to ceiling windows. In the main deck hallway, the central staircase walls display back-painted Murano glass panels dancing with a mixture of light and rich orange-gold tones which highlight a custom-made Lasvit Design floor-to-ceiling glass sculpture artfully mimicking bamboo. Forward, AKULA offers a full-beam master stateroom with sitting area, a large walk in closet and elegant marble bathroom equipped with a steam shower, a double floating vanity and a make-up area.

On the lower deck, AKULA features four additional well-appointed cabins accommodating up to 12 guests overall. On the bridge deck, a dedicated office space equipped with video conferencing facilities allows guests to effortlessly manage business affairs while on board. Aft, a well-equipped gym makes it easy to stay fit even while out at sea.

AKULA delivers impressive performance. Her substantial cruising range allows for extended voyages, letting you explore remote and beautiful destinations with ease. She most recently completed her first Atlantic crossing.

THE TOY BOX
What’s a superyacht vacation without toys… if you want to hit the water, AKULA has two top-of-the-line Yamaha SVHO FX Cruiser 3-seater waverunners on the bow. In her forward garage, AKULA has a Williams 445 Jet-tender, as well as kayaks, paddle boards, and a Mini-Cat for those craving a quiet, more meditative experience. Additionally there are two Seabobs, snorkel gear, wakeboards, waterskis and fishing gear. Her 44 Fjord Open tender offers guests the ultimate in speed, comfort, and style for excursions.

Finally, AKULA’s experienced and dedicated crew of ten provides for an unforgettable experience for its guests.
