Spectro Jet-Care Accreditation

Quality and integrity

Accreditation – one word, five syllables, yet so much more… maintaining the highest possible standards is a fundamental part of Spectro | Jet-Care’s philosophy and play a key role in delivering competence and integrity for their customers

Here is a subject dryer than your maiden aunt’s roast chicken… yet as important as not saying so if you want to stay in her will – accreditation, a.k.a. laboratory accreditation ISO/IEC 17025 to be more precise. The dictionary explanation actually says it all:

ACCREDITATION
The action or process of officially recognising someone or an organisation as having a particular status or being qualified to perform a particular activity.

RECOGNITION
The ISO/IEC 17025 certificate is only given after very intensive scrutiny of a quality manual and programme and an equally rigorous annual audit by a qualified international body (in our case UKAS – United Kingdom Accreditation Service, and SAS – Swiss Accreditation Service).

STATUS
Spectro | Jet-Care certainly has status as the recognised ‘go to’ in laboratory oil analysis for the superyacht industry having been in the business for the past 50 years under the same ownership with three showcase laboratories in the US, UK and Switzerland.

Add to this, the most reliable and technically advanced equipment combined with unmatched expertise allows us to provide precision analysis to the highest quality standards available. And, the team are proud to say that 50 years continual growth grants a lot of status!

QUALIFIED
Qualified scientists and technicians form the backbone of the company, supported by over 170 equally skilled and dedicated people across every area of the organisation.

Spectro Jet-Care AccreditationPERFORMANCE
Receiving laboratory results quickly and accurately in a user-friendly format is vital. Nobody wants to receive details of an anomaly after it has become a problem. A two working day turnaround for results from such a complex state-of-the-art laboratory is unprecedented.

The official meaning of ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration of laboratories, specifying general requirements for their competence, impartiality and consistent operation to produce valid and reliable results.

That may seem obvious – but do you know if the lab report you have received by A.N. Other is from their own laboratory or are results being just copied out?

Do they even have a laboratory? I say this as there are ‘experts’ (loose term) who use numerous laboratories and regurgitate results as their own. This practice does exist and is very unreliable indeed. Always ask for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation documentation and read who is involved. Do they even have marine experience?

What about approval by Classification Societies? This is the icing on any ISO cake as it proves that the laboratory is qualified and accredited for marine applications. Spectro | Jet-Care is an American Bureau of Shipping Approved Laboratory and also the only Lloyds Register of Shipping Approved Service Supplier for Oil and Hydraulic Laboratory Condition Monitoring.

Now as the reader of all the above which is unashamedly a shout out for the company as part of its 50 year celebrations you might be wondering what does that all mean for you?

Think about health, think about complex surgery… who would you rather have perform that? A newly trained person or someone with 50 years’ experience, industry accolades and accreditation at the highest level.

I know that you know the answer. Now, about that dry roast chicken… gravy works wonders!
