Sylvox TV’s That Deliver

In this edition, Torsten Steinbrecher of Qualtron introduces Sylvox – a brand that delivers exceptional performance with outstanding value. This strategic addition to our range allows Qualtron to extend its offering to an even broader spectrum of sophistic clientele.

Good technology earns its place quietly. On a yacht, the standard is simple: equipment either works, in every condition, without demanding attention, or it does not belong there. Sylvox has spent over 17 years building outdoor televisions designed to perform where ordinary screens cannot, and the story of how they got there is worth telling. The company was founded in 2009 by Golden Young with a premise that was straightforward but at the time largely unaddressed: that outdoor viewing should be just as immersive and reliable as indoor entertainment. Outdoor screens, where they existed at all, lagged far behind their indoor counterparts – dim in sunlight, vulnerable to weather, and rarely designed with any seriousness of purpose. Young saw the gap and set out to close it. What followed was 17 years of focused engineering. Sylvox concentrated on one discipline, building televisions that perform in environments where ordinary screens fail, and developed the materials science, the optical engineering, and the protective architecture to deliver it properly.

The result is a company now present in over 100 countries, with a product range that serves residential spaces, commercial venues and an expanding range of marine applications.

That pedigree has been recognised at the highest levels of the industry. At CES 2025, the world’s most influential technology event, the Cinema Pro 110” received three major awards, including Best in Show from The Ambient and Trusted Reviews, and the Residential Systems Picks Award. Eight months later at IFA 2025 in Berlin, the same model took the IFA Innovation Award, Best in IFA Next. Recognition at both, within a single product cycle, reflects where Sylvox now stands. The qualities that make this range perform reliably in demanding domestic settings translate directly to life on the water. The same fundamental challenges apply on a yacht’s open deck as on an exposed patio – often more intensely, and with fewer options for shelter or correction. The first is visibility. A standard indoor television produces between 200 and 400 nits of brightness; on open water in full sun, that is simply not enough. Sylvox’s outdoor range addresses this in graduated steps: the Deck Pro Series delivers 1,000 nits for covered or partially shaded locations; the Pool Pro Series reaches 2,000 nits for full sun exposure; and the flagship Cinema Pro 110”, built around Sylvox’s proprietary Helio QLED panel technology, reaches 5,000 nits with anti-glare performance built in. At that upper level, the image remains fully legible and colour-accurate in direct sunlight with no overhead cover. The second is resilience. Salt air, humidity and the physical stress of a vessel underway impose conditions that most electronics are not built to withstand.

Models across the outdoor range carry weatherproof ratings of IP55 or above, with protection against water jets from any direction. Casings are formed from single-piece moulded aluminium alloy, finished with a corrosion-resistant coating that holds up over extended outdoor exposure. Operating temperature tolerance runs from -30°C to 50°C (-22°F to 122°F), tested and consistent across the range.Screen sizes extend from 43 inches to the award-winning 110-inch Cinema Pro, the world’s first 110-inch outdoor TV. This breadth allows installations to be tailored to any space onboard, from a covered helm station to an expansive aft-deck lounge.

The 110-inch model delivers 4K Ultra HD resolution, Dolby Vision picture processing and Dolby Atmos audio, with Google TV, Apple AirPlay, Chromecast and Bluetooth built in as standard. For owners running premium content platforms such as Kaleidescape, it is a display that performs as well as the content deserves. The Marine Series extends the range to interior spaces, with construction engineered to resist moisture, corrosion and salt spray, 12V DC operation with 9 to 32 volt tolerance for direct integration with vessel electrical systems, and screen sizes from 22 to 40 inches covering crew cabins, galleys and secondary lounges. There is a particular quality to evenings at anchor that those who spend time on yachts understand well. The light changes quickly, conditions shift without warning, and the people onboard expect an experience that matches the setting. A film on a large aft-deck screen, picture steady and vivid as the sun drops and the breeze picks up, is simply part of that experience, and the kind that good equipment makes effortless. From a 22-inch display in a crew cabin to a 110-inch Cinema Pro on the main deck, the range is designed to the same brief: clear, reliable performance in places that ordinary screens were never intended to reach.
